INSTRUCTOR: LISA SUHAIR MAJAJ
Nature inspires, but the emotions it elicits often feel wordless. How do we respond in language to nature’s beauty, complexity, and power? This 3-hour workshop will consider tiny detail, sweeping metaphor, and the terrain between. Expect to write a poem or short prose piece by the end of the workshop.
LISA SUHAIR MAJAJ has published poetry, creative non-fiction, and other writing widely in venues across the US, Europe and the Middle East. Her poetry volume GEOGRAPHIES OF LIGHT won the 2008 Del Sol Press Poetry Prize. Her writing has also been used in a variety of non-literary venues, from public (e.g. her poems will be part of the exhibit AFTERMATH: THE FALLOUT OF WAR—AMERICA AND THE MIDDLE EAST at the Harn Musuem of Art, University of Florida, August-December 2016) to private (an enthusiastic reader once tattooed a line from one of her poems on her arm).
