Story Craft for Young Writers

Teens learn how to put together plots, build characters and experiment with their literary voices as we explore short-form storytelling across a number of genres.

COURSE DESCRIPTION


Learning how stories work makes teens better readers, writers, communicators and empathizers. Plus, it’s just a lot of fun. In this 6-week creative writing workshop teens ages 12-16 will learn how to put together plots, build characters and experiment with their literary voices as we explore short-form storytelling across a number of genres.

We’ll cover in group and solo projects: short stories, flash fiction, creative non-fiction and blog writing. Classes will meet once a week for 1.5 hours and are limited to 8 students. Instruction is in English.

Max Sheridan has taught short fiction and storytelling workshops at schools, universities and festivals in Cyprus and abroad. At Write CY, he also teaches Story Craft, a creative writing course adults, and Creative Blogging, a course on creative web content writing. Max's short fiction and articles have appeared in the US, UK and elsewhere. His novel Dillo was published by Shotgun Honey in 2017.
