THE COMIC BOOK PROJECT
We are a group of artists and writers from different backgrounds working together to produce six original comic books in time for Comic Con 2016. The idea came out of WRITE CY's first comic book writing course in Feb-May 2016, when we realized we had six stories that were too good not to see print. The next step was finding artists willing to take part, which you can read about below. Follow our progress here or on Facebook. Otherwise, see you at Comic Con 2016!
A FIRST MEETING
There may be better things to do on a Friday evening than sit around with a roomful of energetic young artists and writers from as many backgrounds as you can imagine, pooling together resources, ideas and talent—and sharing work—but I can't really think of any. What started off as a lark to find artists—the Comic Book Competition—turned into a packed meeting where beautiful ideas just flowed. The upshot: we'll be working with a handful of local and international artists—comic book illustrators, fine artists, architects and cartoonists—to produce six original comic books in time for Comic Con 2016. We'll be on a tight schedule, but so was Napoleon. Warm thanks to Nick Loucas, Nicos Pattichis, Nikoletta Kyprianou, Thalia Charalambous, Ioanna Epaminondou and Constantinos Lopez Georgiou for stopping by and injecting the kind of creative spark we needed to take this to the next level. And, of course, a huge thanks to Antonis Bargilly for being the mastermind behind the whole idea and for inspiring six new comic book writers to produce six exciting first scripts in barely two months.
If you're an artist and you'd like to get involved with the Comic Book Project, we may have a use for you. If you support creative initiatives like the Comic Book Project and have the means to make a contribution, your support would help a lot.
You can follow our progress here on the WRITE CY blog or on the Comic Book Project Facebook Page. In the meantime, thanks for stopping by.
