SAVING MAH BACON
Our favorite piece of short fiction from the 2017 Junior School summer creative writing workshops really needs no introduction. Saving Mah Bacon by 11-year-old Slava Makarov is a fast-paced adventure involving a nameless wanderer, a bunch of zombies and a "small load of one million pieces of bacon".
A ONE-ACT PLAY
Nameless Wanderer: Die, zombies! Die!
Nameless Wanderer: Ok, mate.
The Nameless Wanderer breaks into his house (because the zombies have eaten his keys) and runs inside his room. He gets his mini-gun but forgets his barrel which holds a small load of a million pieces of bacon. He runs out of town.
Nameless Wanderer (thinking): Oh, no! I forgot mah bacon!
The Nameless Wanderer is surrounded by zombies in the woods.
The Nameless Wanderer (now enraged and killing zombies): Die! Die! Die! Die, you zombies! You killers ! Why are you doing dis? Why are you doing dis? Why are you doing dis?
Zombie 1: I dunno.
Zombie 2: Me neither.
Nameless Wanderer: Can I have mah bacon?
The Nameless Wanderer takes his bacon and gives some to the zombies.
Nameless Wanderer: No problem.
