WRITE CY BRINGS LIVE STORYTELLING TO XARKIS FESTIVAL 2016

TRANSFORMING PERSONAL EXPERIENCES INTO SHARABLE STORIES: A LIVE STORYTELLING WORKSHOP

TU 5 JULY—WE 6 JULY 10:30-14:30
PARTICIPATION FEE: €50
INSTRUCTOR: MAX SHERIDAN

Community storytelling is experiencing a revival worldwide. It isn’t hard to see why. Sharing stories publicly is an antidote to our increasingly virtual existences, making our communities more connected and lively places. This live storytelling workshop will lead participants through the life-changing process of mining their personal histories for valuable material and then transforming that material into meaningful stories sharable within their communities and beyond. We’ll be exploring our own storytelling voices and other elements of story construction, while preparing ourselves for the challenges of live performance. By the end of the workshop, participants will have prepared a 5-minute story they will then have the opportunity to share with the Xarkis Festival community at an Open Mic act arranged at the festival.

This workshop will be conducted in English.
